This week Daniel has attended two days of Halmashauri Mkuu. Halmashauri Mkuu is the national executive committee of Fida International’s partner, the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania. Daniel is the field secretary of Fida missionaries in Tanzania and therefore has a seat in the committee. Most of the other members are all bishops in the their 60s, so Daniel fits right in. The second day of the meeting finished at around 10.30 pm, but no complaints. If 80-year old bishops are able to sit through them, so is one young mzungu missionary.
Unfortunately seminars and meetings don’t make for the best and liveliest photos. Below, a the average meeting table in Dar: a few briefcases, folders and a ton of water bottles to stop you from dehydrating.

The meetings are all conducted fully in Swahili, so Daniel has been under pressure to improve his language skills to a higher level.
Kaikki kokoukset käydään swahilinkielellä, joten Danielilla on ollut painetta parantaa hänen swahilinkielentaitojaan.
Daniel on osallistunut tällä viikolla Halmashauri Mkuuhun. Halmashauri Mkuu on Fidan paikallisen kumppanin, Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania, johtava elin (hallitus?). Koska Daniel on Tansanian lähettien kenttäsihteeri, hänellä on paikka Halmashaurissa. Useimmat muut edustajat ovat kuusikymppisiä piispoja, joten Daniel sopii hyvin joukkoon. Kaksipäiväinen kokous päättyä lopulta keskiviikkoiltana klo 10.30. Sitä ei kuitenkaan auta valitella. Jos kahdeksankymppiset piispatkin jaksavat istua niin myöhään, niin kyllä yksi nuori mzungu lähettikin jaksaa.

Good and good, although I’m getting to that I can’t get up, I can’t sleep, I can’t move -stage, and I’d much rather be in Canada, but there’s a time for everything under the sun.
