We spent an early Christmas at Sirkku’s parents. Sirkku’s brothers, Sami, and his wife Saara, and Simo both had come to Finland from overseas. However, Simo’s fiance, Caroline, stayed in England with her family for this Christmas.

Vietimme aikaisen joulun Sirkun vanhempien luona. Kummatkin Sirkun veljet, Sami, ja hänen vaimonsa Saara, ja Simo olivat tulleet jouluksi Suomeen ulkomailta. Simon tuore kihlattu, Caroline, jäi kuitenkin tällä kertaa vielä kotimaahansa Englantiin.

Benjamin is posing with Uncle Sami and wearing his Christmas present, a Chelsea football jersey. Uncle Simo had also given him a football jersey for Christmas, of Arsenal, Chelsea’s local rival.

Benjamin poseeraa Sami-enon kanssa enon antama joululahja päällä, Chelsean pelipaita. Simo-enokin oli antanut Benjylle lahjaksi pelipaidan, Arsenalin.

Because of all the newcomers, Gramma and Julia had put up a work shop to get the Christmas stockings up to date. Notice that the stocking in the bottom right corner is still missing a name.

The first words out of Benjamin’s mouth after coming off the airplane were: “It’s cold in Finland, really cold.” But it didn’t take long for him to get used to the excess clothing and enjoy hours at a time playing outside. However, Daddy is having a harder time getting used to the adjustment.

Benjaminin ensimmäiset sanat koneesta noustuamme olivat: “Suomessa on kylmä, tosi kylmä.” Ei kuitenkaan mennyt kauan ennen kuin Benjy oli jo tottunut moninkertaiseen vaatekerrastoon ja nautti kylmästä ulkoilmasta monta tuntia putkeen. Isille tämä muutos kuitenkin olivat vähän vaikeampaa.

Sirkku’s belly just doesn’t seem to stop growing. We have slowly come to the conclusion that either she has a bad case of tapeworms or then she’s pregnant.
