The last two weeks, we have literally been sitting from one seminar/workshop/meeting to another. Below, you can see our schedule complimented with a few photos.

Viimeiset kaksi viikkoa on mennyt istuessa seminaarista/työpajasta/palaverista toiseen. Alla näet meidän menneiden viikojen aikataulun höystettynä muutamalla kuvalla.

7th, Friday. A partnership meeting together with our partner church, Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT), and its Swedish and Danish partners. 7. perjantai. Kumppanuustapaaminen paikallisen yhteystyökumppanimme, Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzanian (FPCT), ja heidän ruotsalaisten ja tanskalaisten kumppaneiden kanssa. 10th, Monday. Brainstorming workshop for Fida missionaries working with projects aimed at children and youth.

10. maanantai. Aivoriihityöpaja Fidan lapsi- ja nuorisotyötä koskevien projektien lähettien kesken.

12th, Wednesday. Meeting at Amana Youth Centre together with Fida, Amana management and committee and FPCT HQ representatives. Amana is currently in a very difficult financial situation and we are trying to work on a way out of it. Prayers are muh appreciated.

12. keskiviikko. Palaveri Amanan nuorisokeskuksessa yhdessä Fidan, Amanan ja FPCTn päämajan edustajien kanssa. Amana on tällä hetkellä kovassa taloudellisessa ahdingossa ja yritämme löytää tietä ulos siitä. Rukoukset ovat erittäine tervetulleita.

13th, Thurdays and 14th, Friday. We flew to Mwanza to participate in a Logical Framework Analysis (LFA) workshop for a upcoming childrens’ social ministry project. Below, Tomi Järvinen together with local participants working on constructing the problem tree.

13. torstai ja 14. perjantai. Lensimme Mwanzaan, jossa osallistuimme alkavaa lapsityön projektia koskevaan Logical Framework Analysis (LFA) työpajaan. Yllä, Tomi Järvinen yhdessä paikallisten osallistujien kanssa hahmottelemassa ongelmapuuta.

16th, Sunday. A visit a church in Mwanza located on a hill slope right next to the opening new youth centre. Above, spot the “mzungu” (white person, Anita Villikka). Below, Daniel got the opportunity to speak about the importance of social youth ministry to the congregation.

16. sunnuntai. Vierailu eräässä kirkkossa Mwanzassa, joka sijaitsee mäen rinteessä juuri uuden nuorisokeskuksen vieressä. Yllä, paikanna “mzungu” (valkoinen ihminen, Anita Villikka). Alla, Daniel sai mahdollisuuden puhua sosiaalisen nuorisotyöntärkeydestä seurakunnalle.

17th to 19th. Youth ministry seminar at the new youth centre aimed at laying the foundation for effective coordination and cooperation of the local churches for the centres’ activities.

17.-19. päivä. Nuorisotyön seminaari uudessa nuorisokeskussa. Tarkoituksena oli pohjustaa paikallisten kirkkojen tehokasta yhteistyötä ja koordinaatiota keskuksen toimintojen toteutusta varten.

20th, Thursday. The cream of the crop. Last, but not least. Our 4-year anniversary. We held a business lunch/brainstorming meeting to construct the next 5-year plan of our marriage. Maybe a few too many meetings by now.

20. torstai. Sokerina pohjalla. Meidän 4-vuotis hääpäivä. Vietimme bisneslounaan/aivoriihi palaverin, jossa hahmottelimme avioliittomme seuraavaa 5-vuotissuunnitelmaa. Ehkä muutama liikaa palavereja tässä vaiheessa.

Bugs are part of our everyday life in Africa. Surprisingly, we have quicky become accustomed to them and don’t pay much attention to them anymore. (With the exception of cockroaches for Danny and geckos for Sirkku). However, our guests always find them interesting and take the time to capture them on camera. Below are a few pictures of the smaller creatures living in Tanzania.

“The red-legged millipide” is a very common site around our house. We have been told that it’s legs are poisonous and give a burning sensation if in skin-contact, but haven’t come around to testing it out yet. If anyone of you know the “real” name for this fellow, please feel free to mention it in the comments.

“Punajalkainen tuhatjalkainen” on yleinen näky talomme ympäristössä. Ötökän jalat ovat kuulemma myrkylliset ja polttavat ihokosketuksessa. Itse emme sitä ole vielä ehtineet testata. Jos joku teistä tietää kaveri “oikean” nimet, voisitte jakaa sen meidän muidenkin kanssamme kommenteissa.

Ötökät ovat osa jokapäiväistä elämämme Afrikassa. Yllättävää on, että olemme suht’ nopeasti tottuneet eliöihin, emmekä paljoa enään niitä huomioi (Poikkeuksena torakat Dannylle ja gekot Sirkulle). Vieraamme kuitenkin pitävät ötököitä mielenkiintoisina ja ovat ottaneet aikaa kavereiden taltioimiseksi kameralla. Yllä muutama kuva ötökän elämästä Tansaniassa.
